I stayed at Hotel Seri Malaysia Mersing while accompanying a close family member who was receiving medical treatment in Mersing. Here's my honest experience from that perspective:

✅ What I Appreciated:

Convenient Location
The hotel is located in a central area, not far from the hospital/clinic and other amenities like pharmacies, food stalls, convenience stores, and ATMs. This made it easy for me to move around when I needed to buy things or get meals.

Helpful Staff
The front desk and housekeeping staff were polite and accommodating. They were understanding when I had requests like late check-ins or needing extra towels. Their kindness was comforting during a stressful time.

Quiet Environment (Mostly)
I was able to get some rest, which was important since I had been at the hospital for long hours. The hotel environment is generally quiet, especially in the evenings.

⚠️ What Could Be Improved:

Cleanliness & Upkeep
The room was not very clean. There was a musty smell when I walked in, and the bathroom felt old and in need of maintenance. When you're emotionally drained, this kind of environment can feel even heavier.

Feel like being cheated with the terrible state of the hotel

The room and overall hotel structure and facilities in dire and urgent need of repair and upkeep. Peeling paint everywhere, damaged wooden furniture veneer, loose tiles, rusted lighting fixture and doors, missing asbestos ceiling board, plants growing on roof, loose dangerous wall socket, damaged toilet door lock and mouldy bread served at breakfast.

Saving grace was the well kept hotel landscaping and the hotel receptionists who were polite and helpful. My grandson left his plastic file with cash inside which was returned by the hotel staff Puan Siti Suryani to whom I am most grateful

Overall the management of Hotel Seri Malaysia Mersing should urgently carry out the much needed repairs and institute regular maintenance. The rental rate of RM 219.83 for a family room is not only excessive but definitely not worth the price to stay here. I can get rooms at other hotels for much less with well maintained superior facilities

The hotel although a bit old but nice because of the location. I got free room upgrade which was a nice gesture from the hotel. the breakfast is okay but the selection were limited to nasi lemak, beehoon, cereals, bread, watermelon, baked beans, sausages, coffee and tea. at night you can walk to the nearby beach park and food stalls. my daughter enjoy playing the pool. overall the hotel is okay but it is better if the management can makeover the hotel. thank you

Bilik ok.. Nampak, bersih. Cuma pintu, perabot ade yg reput. Persekitaran luar bilik agak kotor.. Banyak sampah ditangga.. Tiada pembersihan dijalankan.. Breakfast ada rasa.. Tapi pilihan x banyak..x sesuai utk anak kecil.. Atleast sediakan nasi lemak.. View keliling cantik..

Pertama Kali check in sini sebab memang tahu standard Hotel Seri Malaysia. Tapi malangnya keadaan bilik di sini sangat mengecewakan. Pertama, Lantai bilik air yang berhabuk seperti tidak dicuci dengan baik. Kedua, terdapat tulang seakan2 tulang ayam di dalam bilik ini. Ingatkan puting rokok. Menjijikan. Ketiga, pintu bilik air yang hampir reput. Keempat, sinki yang kotor. Kelima, masuk2 bau kepam. Untuk akan datang, hotel ini tidak lagi menjadi pilihan.

The location of the hotel is great. It's only a 5-minute drive to the jetty, and there's an open car park right next to the hotel. In the evening, food vendor stalls open up in the car park, and there's also a food stall just behind the hotel. A hospital is conveniently located right opposite the hotel. One thing I really appreciated was the location. Plus, the hotel faces the sea, which offers a beautiful view. However, the building appeared abandoned and eerie. The surroundings & pool area were completely misleading and nothing like what was shown on Agoda. For me, the room experience was very disappointing. I stayed on the second floor in a sea-facing room, but it was poorly maintained. The bedsheet and pillows are clean and smell nice. The toilet was very small, the sink and the walls were dirty. I don’t mind if a hotel looks a bit run-down from the outside, but at the very least, the room especially the toilet should be clean, smell fresh, and feel hygienic. Please improve the housekeeping and overall maintenance. Unfortunately, there aren't many hotel options in this area — but that’s even more reason for this hotel to step up its standards. The location has potential, but the room condition really let the experience down.

Very bad hotel. All facilities such as toilet, shower Area, amenities, iron Board were not in good condition. The toilet was smelly, same goes to the whole room was not properly maintain. The floor was not being moped and the kettle still has water from previous guest. There was stain on the bedsheet, the sofa and also the curtain. It was a nightmare and it really feels humiliated with what has been paid. Not recommended to all guest that hoping for good ambience. I felt everything was not hygienic at all. Hopefully the management of Hotel Seri Malaysia will take action. My room was 114.

This place has bed bugs! The staff were nice but the room when we first arrived was incredibly damp and smelt like mould inside. We stayed for two nights and the first night I saw small bites appear on my leg and now I am home I am fully covered in bed bug bites all over my body! It is horrible and incredibly unclean and painful to move now. the smell of mould as well made it very hard to sleep and is very bad for anyone’s health. Please do a deep clean of the bed for this room so no one else suffers! Ultimately was not worth the money we paid at all I have slept in cleaner hostels.
